Cladding Corp Swisspearl Carat STAR Center - Tacoma, WA

STAR Center - Tacoma, WA

Located within a redeveloped regional sports and recreation campus, the new community center serves as a focal point for the community. The design incorporates various functions organized in a series of arced units, seamlessly connecting with the landscaped surroundings and offering stunning views of Mount Rainier. The standout feature of the center is its distinctive red facade clad with Swisspearl Carat panels, showcasing a unique fish-scale pattern that not only enhances the aesthetics but also aligns with the project's overarching sustainability goals.

The ventilated Swisspearl facade plays a crucial role in the facility's energy-saving initiatives, contributing to its LEED Gold accreditation. Natural ventilation and lighting are maximized, with exterior blinds on all windows to minimize heat absorption. Furthermore, the building benefits from a geothermal system comprising fifty 300-foot deep wells, providing tempered water to a central heat pump system for zoned heating and passive cooling, further emphasizing the center's commitment to sustainable practices.
