FOCUS ON: Charles River Community Center
Final installation of the striking SwissPearl® Cem5 rainscreen is now complete on the Charles River Community Health Center (formerly the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center) located in one of Boston’s most culturally and economically diverse neighborhoods. Wrapped in a state-of-the-art Cem5 Rainscreen facade, this facility was designed as a response to the growing demand for affordable health services in the surrounding areas.
Tasked with creating a cutting-edge health service facility that would still maintain a neighborhood feel, the design team at Boston-based Isgenuity worked with Columbia Construction to create an interior and exterior environment that is welcoming to patients and community members from all backgrounds.
In order to reach its LEED Silver target, the design team worked with Cladding Corp to develop an exterior envelope that included an energy-efficient, drained and back-ventilated fibercement rainscreen assembly. The new 48,000 sf, two-story building an exterior facade the premier fiber cement panel from Swisspearl®, combined with a fully engineered rainscreen system by Cem5.
