Part of an ongoing plan for revitalization of the Broodmoor neighborhood in New Orleans, Cladding Corp is eager to announce that the installation of the CERAM terracotta rainscreen for Andrew H. Wilson Charter School in New Orleans is now complete.

Andrew H. Wilson Elementary School in New Orleans has been serving the children and community for nearly 100 years, until 2005's Hurricane Katrina, when the historic building flooded and substantially damaged.  As a result of the efforts of the Louisiana Recovery School District and the Broadmoor Improvement Association, the local landmark is being restored with a focus on sustainable design, complete with an engineered terracotta rainscreen supplied by Cladding Corp.

The Wilson School renovation and addition, envisioned by HMS Architects of New Orleans and Innovative Design, Inc. of Raleigh North Carolina, is registered as a LEED® rated installation – on final track to be LEED® Gold certified later this year.  The school features a variety of different strategies for sustainable design including an exterior rainscreen and energy efficient wall construction, stormwater management system, integrated lighting design, solar technology with both solar thermal water heating and photovoltaic panels, efficient water use, high-performance mechanical and electrical systems and the use of sustainable materials, with priority on local, recycled and existing material resources.

For this application, the goal for a sustainable design was further complimented by the desire to have an engineered attachment approach for the overall rainscreen - an approach that would guarantee longevity for the design and for the design aesthetic.  For the exterior portions of the building, the design team selected Cladding Corp's CERAM terracotta rainscreen system in a natural red terracotta color and an engineered attachment system from ALLFACE.  For further information on our terracotta cladding systems and options for rainscreen design, contact us.
